Job scheduling software

Fieldmotion is a field service management system, which means that it is used by office workers to manage the jobs that field workers perform in the field.
The most straight-forward use of an FSM would be to directly create jobs and give them out to the workers as they are created, but sometimes you will want to schedule the jobs. This can be done in a number of ways. For example;

  • by setting the meeting time for the job
  • a reactionary job (say, a job that happens two weeks after another different job)
  • a recurring job (a job that happens on a periodic basis)
  • as a dynamically scheduled job (where the time is picked by computer)

Setting a specific job time is obviously the simplest method here. You simply set a date and time for the job, and that gets sent to the field worker’s phone/tablet. In order
to avoid information overload, the device only shows jobs within a set range of today (for example, 3 days in the past to 7 days in the future). This way the worker doesn’t feel overwhelmed, and can concentrate on just what’s in front of them.
Reactionary jobs are those that are created in reaction to the completion of other jobs. For example, a plumber may want to have a 6-month visit scheduled automatically
after a job has been done, in order to check on how the job is holding up. But you don’t want to have to manually create it, as you may forget to do so, and in 6 months, the last thing on your mind will be to go check on something from 6 months before that you barely remember. So, we have a handy “on complete” system in the field service scheduling software which allows you to create any number of follow-up jobs in many different ways.
Recurring jobs are those that you want to schedule every week or month or year. You can tell the field scheduling software to schedule a job every Tuesday, or on the 17th of every month, or specifically on the 3rd of March every year, or every 19 days. There are many ways that people use it.
Our dynamic scheduler can schedule any number of jobs based on the requirements of the job, the distance travel required for the workers, the skills the workers have, the cost of travel, the wages of the workers. Even if the solutions it comes up are then changed to be more in-keeping with what you like, they still save any medium sized company hours every week in scheduling.
